The Washington County Free Library is looking for a substitute to work in our Children’s Dept.  The hours for this position: Sundays: 1-5 PM; Monday: 4-8 PM and Wednesday: 5-8 PM.  Come and be part of an innovative and evolving library in Downtown Hagerstown.   Duties include:  Staffing the Children’s Desk, working with patrons on homework/reader’s advisory assignment, taking phone calls to register families for library programs, shelving books within the department, and monitoring the department for security purposes and other duties as assigned.  Required skills, knowledge and abilities: Have an appreciation of the importance of children and the value of library youth services. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.  Previous library experience preferred but not a requirement.  Candidate must have excellent direct-contact customer service skills; demonstrate interest in libraries; the ability to work individually and with others.
